Mikumi Safari

Size: 3,230 sq km, the fourth-largest national park in Tanzania, and part of a much larger ecosystem centered on the uniquely vast Selous Game Reserve.

Location: 283 km (175 miles) west of Dar es Salaam, north of Selous, and end route to Ruaha, Udzungwa and (for the intrepid) Katavi.

Flora and Fauna

It carries a variety of wildlife including elephants, lion, giraffe, impala, warthog, zebra, buffalo wildebeest, hartebeest and eland. Wild dogs – considered and endangered carnivore species are found here in good numbers. Other resident animals are crocodiles, hippos and monitor lizards.

Program Structure – Day One

  • Flight to Mikumi park Direct, On arrival you will be met bybour safari guide, we continue with the first day program.
  • Afternoon lunch
  • More safari until 4pm we return to the lodge.
  • Check in and rest.
  • 1730, we depart for sunset safari.
  • Subject to the weather. If the weather is not cloud this is NOT possible but we can continue with safari until late
  • We return to the lodge for dinner and over at Mikumi Bandas in the park.

 

Program Structure – Day Two

  • 0630, Early morning safari.
  • 0800. Breakfast
  • After breakfast, we have more safari until lunch. 12h30.
  • After lunch more safari,
  • 1530, we depart back to Zanzibar.
